Answers

Flooring questions homeowners ask

What flooring works best in South Florida?

Porcelain tile and quality luxury vinyl handle humidity, sand and the occasional water event far better than solid hardwood. Engineered wood is a good compromise when you want the look.

Do I need to move out during installation?

No, but rooms need to be cleared. Most installers phase the work so the household always has usable space.

How flat does the slab have to be?

Large-format tile requires roughly 1/8" over 10 feet. Skipping leveling is the leading cause of lippage and cracked tile a year later.

Can new tile go over existing tile?

Sometimes, but it raises floor height at doors and thresholds and risks telegraphing old failures. Full demo is usually worth it.

How long before I can walk on it?

Vinyl is immediate. Tile needs about 24 hours after grout, and glue-down wood typically 24 – 48 hours before furniture returns.

Do you replace baseboards?

Most complete scopes include removing and reinstalling or replacing baseboard. Confirm it's itemized — it's a common quote omission.
