Rough or chalky plaster, persistent staining, visible aggregate, or repeated chemistry problems usually mean the finish is done. Marcite lasts 7 – 10 years; quartz and pebble finishes 12 – 20.
It generates chlorine on site instead of you handling jugs. The water still contains chlorine — it's softer to swim in and cheaper to run, but the cell needs replacement every 3 – 6 years.
Heat pumps are far cheaper to run and ideal for maintaining temperature. Gas heats fast and suits occasional weekend use or spas.
Resurfacing usually does not; structural work, gas lines, electrical, and screen enclosure changes do. Your Guild pro will confirm before starting.
Evaporation of a quarter inch a day is normal here. More than that suggests a plumbing or shell leak, which a pressure test will isolate.
